The first issue contains biographies of Arnauld and Pascal at volume 1, pages 15-16 and 65-66 respectively, each with added engraved portrait. In the second issue, these leaves have been canceled and replaced with biographies and portraits of Thomassin and Du Cange, and the Table to volume 1 has been updated with cancel slips. Some copies of the second issue are known with the suppressed leaves added. Cf. Brunet; CAI [Clark Art Institute] has volume 1 only; CAI volume 1, copy 1, a variant, in which the entries for and portraits of Tommassin and Du Cange replace those for and of Antoine Arnauld and Pascal. The portrait of Pascal is bound in after page 100; CAI volume 1, copy 2, includes entries for and portraits of Arnauld (pages 15-16) and Pascal (pages 65-66), both following sequential pagination; and Tommassin (pages 15-16; bound in following entry for Arnauld) and Du Cange (pages 65-66, bound in following page 68).
