1855
Four winter landscapes drawn on the same lithographic stone in 1855. 1st landscape: Bare alder-trees at the edge of a flowing river full to the brim. 2nd landscape: Race-grounds in the neighborhood of Paris; at left, in the foreground, a horse at liberty, in the center of the composition, two men are going toward an excavation which marks out its "roue d'ascension." 3rd landscape: ravined and bushy piece of ground; trees twisted and bare; at right, a man kneeling puts branches on a fire. The artist has done this subject again in etching. See catalogue raisonné number 98. 4th landscape: Tree trunks projecting their shadows on sloping ground.
