Kennedy's secretary, Evelyn Lincoln, concerning then President-elect Kennedy's address to the Massachusetts Legislature at the Massachusetts State House in Boston. In this speech, given eleven days prior to his inauguration, the President-elect quotes John Winthrop's "city upon a hill" sermon and highlights four qualities that he hopes to bring to his presidency: courage, judgment, integrity and dedication. Materials in this folder include a reading copy of the speech and a copy of a letter from the President-elect to an unknown recipient.

In his speech President Kennedy addresses his discontent with the press' news coverage before, during, and after the Bay of Pigs incident, suggesting that there is a need for "far greater public information" and "far greater official secrecy."
