Rectangular, rounded sides, featuring word/picture rebus, inscribed "I Am W.W. King, Who The [Devil] Are You", with incised image of devil with pitchfork that appears after "The" and before "Are" in text. Reverse inscribed with monogram WWK. Thin, flat lid hinged on upper left. Striker on bottom.
In the form of a clenched fist and forearm, the front, or inside of forearm, inscribed "In This You"ll Find A Match," the reverse, outside of forearm, inscribed "Quarter mile run, BAC (partly decipherable monogram), Aug.30,90." Lid (top of forearm) hinged on left. Striker on top of lid.
Rectangular, snuff box style container, featuring raised decoration of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, their names inscribed above each respectively, royal coat-of-arms between them, inscribed above all "J.Hynam's Royal Patent Congreves," inscribed below "& Safety Fire Boxes, 5 & 7 Princes Sq. Wilson St., Finsbury London." Lid hinged on back, long side. Striker on same side.
High, thick cluster of flowers and leaves growing from brown soil at bottom. Flowers, in bright colors, are roses, tuberoses, daisies, poppies, morning glories, and others. The base of the pedestal which appears in the decoration fitting above this dado can be seen dimly, on white ground.
Height: 63cm (24 3/4in.). Width: 145cm (55 1/4in.) N.B. As the piece is quilted to a backing fabric with no apparent warp or weft, measurements were taken as Height and Width.
