About sending a gift to Georg Branting, and translations of memorandums of the first and second motions; asking that either Dos Passos or Frankfurter books be sent to Li Pei Kan, along with copies of his own "Vita Proletaria" and "Background"; referring to Milio [Emilio Coda], [Luigi] Bertoni, Labrado [Rivera], Raffaele [Schiavina], [Felice] Guadagni, and others. Translation: Has been playing boccie – has been writing a lot, but still owes answers to many friends. Is sending a present to Branting as a surprise. Hopes to get Bertoni’s answer the latter undertook to publish his memoirs in French and is sending copies in Italian and English. Asks about Guadagni’s translation. He is sure that when Bertoni sees the beauty and importance of the work, he will want to publish both in one volume. A young Chinese man wrote to him in English from Paris telling him of an article he wrote in the only anarchist Chinese publication “The Evangelist."

About raising money to be used either for the purchase of a linotype to help the starting of a new daily in Italy, or for the daily "Umanità Nova" "[Boston?]. Translation: He discusses the possibility of starting a periodical. There has been an enthusiastic response to this by the Italian comrades. Talks of monies needed, quite specific about amounts and for what. Speaks of injustice, ignorance of the oppressed, the bourgeois press – these are our themes. Our voice will rise above the lies, make haste. He is concerned to avoid misunderstanding. The operation should be streamlined and they must get a cover name for the person to whom correspondence will be addressed."

On beginning hunger strike, and journals and letters not forwarded to him; complaining about [Fred H. Moore's] indifference; referring to Virginia a. MacMechan; and mentioning [Aldino Felicani]. Translation: He has not been able to write recently, due to his agitated state of mind. However this morning he sent to his lawyer the following note: “From this morning on, I will begin a fast which will only end when Webster, Thayer have had their last final stay, or with my death. He has asked the comrades around here for the address of their two glorious comrades, but doesn’t know what happened about it. “the lawyer is making a fool of us and leads us around in circles. However often he comes to see him he doesn’t bring him any mail. Complains about having received wrong issues of the newspapers he wanted. Nothing that he wrote recently has been published. Wants to see the correspondent. More about the papers he has not received. He is very upset about this. “My friend Miss Mechan left of the 10th of the month. To gain time he gives correspondent her address."
