With dedication by T. Pont to King James I.
On dedication cartouche: "93."
Decoration: at top right corner, the dedication is inscribed in an elaborated frame ornated with the Royal Crest and two children holding open books; on the left bottom corner the title in fretwork cartouche; elaborated compass rose with rhumb lines radiating; some large names in flourished script; the coasts are shaded outwards and coloured; two ships in the Firth of Forth.
Shows the area currently comprising East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian with parts of neighbouring counties (Fife, Lanarkshire, Berwickshire and Peeblesshire); shows as far south as the Lammermuir Hills and west to the river Avon.
