A typed letter from Lieutenant Colonel J. Hume Dudgeon, O.B.E., M.C., of the Riding Establishment in Merville, Booterstown, County Dublin, Ireland, to Francis R. Appleton, Jr. (1885-1974) dated January 1, 1951. Dudgeon thanks "Mr. Appleton" for his letter and card, which the letter suggests is a photograph of a horse undergoing long rein training, and commends him on both the horse and photography. In a handwritten addition to the letter, Dudgeon informs Appleton that the Riding Establishment has a horse of a Mrs. or Miss Grant Forbes.
