Jewett to be given in Thompson's honor by Thomas Holliday Barker, \"a zealous member of the Manchester Union & Emancipation Society\". Thompson suggests Garrison publish it in the Liberator along with another letter from William Farmer, who \"travelled with us in 1846\", and wishes for his writing to be included in the Liberator as well. He tells Garrison that he will be employed as a \"special correspondent\" for the Morning Star newspaper during his stay in the U.S. and proposes his first piece be about Massachusetts role in the American Civil War. He asks for Garrison's help beginning his work and for his assistance introducing him to people in Washington, D.C. He also asks Garrison to apologize to their friends in Boston for not writing since he last visited but that he \"trust[s] they will generously forgive my multitude of short comings.\"",
