Elizur Wright Jr. writes to Amos A. Phelps about the slave whip which Phelps desired to obtain. He writes, "I have bought one for 3/4 of a dollar and forward it this day by the favor of Philip A. Bell to the Liberator Office. The whip goes by the name of an 'overseer's whip'.....
