Letter from John Bishop Estlin, Liverpool, [England], to Mary Anne Estlin, 1846 November 3
John Bishop Estlin writes to Mary Anne Estlin regarding a meeting with American abolitionists. He writes, "Here I am in a room full of people. Mr. R.D.Webb, his brother; R.d. Allen;-a black man, Mr. Daily-Mr. Garrison, H.C. Wright, a Mr. or Miss Brady--..I am writing on my knee while the discussion goes on...I am to shave with a respectable gentleman...of Edinburgh...Douglass is to be here presently." He writes of his living arrangements while in Liverpool and of the events during his stay.
