Document source description

In this letter to Samuel May, Stephen S. Foster discusses the last meetings in Webster, saying "our meeting has proved a failure at least so far as an audience is concerned." Foster states that the three meetings were not well attended and "the leading influences of the place" succeeded in keeping people away from them. He says they collected $3 from three individuals but this "was not enough, by one dollar, to meet our expenses here, as we were obliged to stop at a public house." Foster tells May he has not been to Millbury and will not go because he "should not expect a great gathering there, under the most favorable circumstances." In the postscript, he tells May he wanted to send him "Mr. Bent's letter" but he "cannot find it in any of my pockets."
