Letter from Samuel L. Gould, West Boylston, Mass., to Amos Augustus Phelps, Aug 21st 1837
In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Samuel L. Gould reports on the meeting of the Worcester Baptist Association, in which an abolitionist agenda was brought up but not discussed due to the time constraint. He also describes the views of some clergymen concerning the "Clerical Appeal" and the possibility of forming a "new organization." He says he feels more optimistic about “the prospect of our cause” after reviewing these opinions that he collected in Worcester.
