"Lucia Weston tells of her visits to Boston and affairs in Weymouth, while giving special attention to two incipient romances among her friends. She relates an incident of a black family's sitting \"at Mr. Spear's meeting\" in a section where colored people were not to sit, a place \"in back of the singers\" being provided for them, and the resulting protest. Henry and Maria Chapman arrived in a carriage with Anne and Caroline Weston. Lucia writes: \"H[enry] and M[aria] go to Gonives [sic; Gonaives, Haiti] next Saturday. I thought H[enry] very poorly.\""
