        "William Lloyd Garrison expresses regret at the loneliness his absence must have caused. He hopes that Mrs. Mary Ann White Johnson will continue to stay with Mrs. Helen Eliza Garrison. William Lloyd Garrison has not climbed any more mountains on account of his sore feet. He tells of his travel plans. Francis Jackson Garrison will return with him, but he does not know if the Villards will also do so. Mr. and Mrs. Miller (Gerrit Smith's daughter), Anne Warren Weston, and Dr. Henry Ingersoll Bowditch will travel with him on the steamer. Sarah Bradford has returned to America. He discusses Mrs. Garrison's new maid. He advises the continued employment of Miss Houghton. He tells of his financial situation. The postage bill will be very heavy. William Lloyd Garrison writes: \"The elections look adverse to the Republicans. Is our country to be scourged afresh? So much for delaying the impeachment of the President.\""
