Letter from Samuel May, Leicester, [Mass.], to Charles Calistus Burleigh, July 17 / 62
May sends Burleigh a small contribution to the Leicester collection. He urges haste in the preparation of the annual report and tells Burleigh that he will lose all faith in President Lincoln if Lincoln vetoes the Confiscation Bill. He exclaims, "If we can't be united and free, may we never see a Union again."
