Amos A. Phelps described to his wife, Charlotte, his travel to New York via Farmington and New Haven, and gives a reason why he decided to come to Norwalk instead of staying in New York. He then talks about domestic affairs, including his plan to put an addition to his mother’s house in Farmington to make it a convenient home for themselves, and for his mother when they are not there.
