Petition begins, "To the Honoured Governour, Deputy Governour, Assistants, with the House of Deputys now assembled in our General Court, held at Boston, in Massachusetts, June 18 61 the humble address of diverse fremen inhabitants of Sudbury..." Description by cataloger: "June 10, 1661 petition by fourteen leading townsmen of Sudbury to the Massachusetts General Court concerning their liberties and allegiance to the recently restored King Charles of England. Drawn up by and almost surely in the handwriting of Edmund Browne, first minister of Sudbury (and Wayland). See reference to this in "Records of the Governor and Company of the Massachusetts Bay in New England" printed 1854, vol. IV, part II., p. 26."
