Source Description
Among the sketches that The Walters Art Museum acquired from Barye's descendants in 1949 were some studies of knights in armor. This particular subject was taken from a relief in the Louvre Museum portraying Roberto Malatesta driving the Neapolitan forces out of Rome in 1482. Such armor studies can be related to Barye's equestrian statuettes.
