Source Description

After his banishment from the kingdom, Vessantara is accompanied into the forest by his wife, Maddi, and their two children. Traveling in an ornamented chariot, they meet some brahmins who ask them for the horses and chariot. After giving the horses and chariot away, the family proceeds on foot. In this scene, Vessantara is pouring water into the hands of a brahmin as he gives the chariot away.
