In the yard, a boy lights a firecracker as others either make music or huddle together. Younger women play a game, and a senior couple gestures to them. What a blissful time! Paintings in this style were executed by artists attached to the court of the Qianlong emperor (1736-95).Spurious signature of Ch'iu Ying (1494-1552).
