Document source description
This unique and beautifully preserved figurine was one of the first Greek experiments in casting the female form in bronze. She may have been a votive offering, possibly to the goddess Artemis. The simple facial features, horizontal layers of hair, awkward proportions, and solid form date this statuette to early in the Orientalizing period.
