The rare earliest Dutch edition of the De proprietatibus rerum, a fourteenth-century encyclopedia, was published by Haarlem's first printer, Jakob Bellaert (active late fifteenth century). Each section of the book in The Walters' copy is illustrated with a full-page, carefully hand-colored woodcut.
