Portrait of a British Officer
Englehart studied briefly with Sir Joshua Reynolds, president of the Royal Academy, and then devoted himself to miniatures. In about 1795-1800, when he introduced the letter E as his signature as in this portrait, he also began to work at a larger scale than he had previously.
