There is a small pin at one side of the head which is designed to fit inside the diamond set bezel at right of the breech of the gun (51.84).The screw shank of the cleaner is engraved with a spiral and the shaft is also engraved and drilled with irregular patterns. There may have been a small tassel or pull ribbon connected through a hole in the head of the cleaner.
