On the front of the fuchi, a gold horse is pawing the ground beneath a cherry tree in full bloom. A black horse with gold patches is shown on the reverse. This illustration refers to a Chinese poem about a horse pawing fallen cherry blossoms, which restored their fragrance. This is part of a mounted set, all decorated with the same motif.
