Belt Ornament

1st century CE W: 1 1/2 in. (3.81 cm) (l.) Citation Source image

This gold ornament is made of heavy, beaded wire. It must have formed the end piece of the tongue of the belt for which the belt buckle (Walters 57.373) also served. The belt would have been secured to the ornament through the rectangular opening at one end.
