Source Description

A lacquer square manju netsuke of flowering plants in an incense burner and a fan.A standard (oblong) black lacquer four compartment inro. Four cranes standing in a stream near a reed under a moon behind clouds on one side. On the other one standing crane amidst reeds in a stream under a cloudy sky. Four crest-like panels on the top of the lid and three on the bottom of the lower compartment. A dragon and a Ho-o are included on some of the panels. The design is in inlaid aogai (one crane on each side and reeds), a gold lacquer (gold foil) crane on one side and two silver lacquer (silver foil) cranes on one side all on a ground of black roiro. Scattered sections of nashiji. The interior of nashiji and fundame. The cord channels are internal.
