Panther-Head Armrest Decoration from a Couch
The detail, three-dimensionality, and realism of the animal's expression distinguish this as the work of a Hellenistic artist. The panther was associated with Dionysus, and knotted around its neck is a garland of grapes and ivy leaves, attributes of the god.
