Source Description
The front of this amphora depicts a youth running right. He wears a chlamys and fillet and has a petasos at his neck and a scabbard at his side. His hands are extended to either side, and his legs are spread wide, indicating that he is in full stride as he pursues the woman on the back.On the reverse, the woman is fleeing right, and is looking around. She wears a chiton, serpentine bracelets, and a mantle which is draped over her shoulders and down her back. Her torso and right leg are shown frontally, her head and left leg in profile. She extends her right hand back toward her pursuer, while grasping the mantle at her shoulder with the left. Ribbons hold her hair in place.
