Source Description

At the right of the composition is a man riding backwards on his mule. He is the 4th-century Chinese scholar and official Sankan (Ch. Shan Kien). He enjoyed viewing the scenery around a lake near his home so much that he rode backwards when going home so he could keep looking at the view. On the left is a clump of bamboo and a new moon. This is part of a mounted set.
