Harpy Pendant

late 19th century 2 3/8 in. (6 cm) Citation Source image

According to Greek mythology, a harpy was a monster with a woman's upper body and a bird's lower body. This pendant was formerly identified as 16th-century Italian, but scientific tests of the enamel confirm that it dates to the 19th century.
