Source Description

The figure on the right of the kozuka is a "tengu." "Tengu" are mischievous creatures who live in the forest and mountains, and are well known as warriors. The tengus supposedly trained the warrior Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Yoshitsune is at the left of the composition, chasing the "tengu." At the extreme edges of the composition, trees and mountains indicate the landscape.
