This tsuba probably depicts the Chinese calligrapher Wang Xizhi [Wang Hsi-chih], who lived in the 4th century BC. He is shown with a long scroll in his hand and a boy attendant. The bird at the upper left is a crane raised by Wang Xizhi [Wang Hsi-chih].
