Source Description
Vadier, a politician and member of the Convention-a constitutional and legislative assembly-called for the trial and execution of King Louis XVI in 1791. During the Thermidorean Reaction, a revolt within the revolutionary movement in which the excesses of the Reign of Terror were denounced, he had the radical Maximilien Robespierre brought to trial and executed.
