Metalworking traditions, such as this painted enamel (yangci), remained popular during the Qing dynasty. Painted enamels is a technique of applying enamels directly on the copper surface. The production of painted enamel was located mainly in the imperial workshops of Beijing and, for export wares, in Canton (present-day Guangzhou in Guangdong province).
