Source Description
The tsuka is covered in ray skin ("same") and wrapped in silk cord. The gold menuki beneath the cord are in a design of poetry papers with cherry blossoms. The kashira on the end of the hilt shows a yamabushi (mountain warrior monk) attacking a warrior. Other fittings in this ensemble show warriors who supported Emperor Go-Daigo (1288-1339) during the Nanboku war. Yamabushi assisted Go-Daigo's forces in battles for control of Kamakura. This is part of a mounted set.
