Source Description
The chased bracelet is made of a larger (2/3) and a smaller piece (1/3) that together form a hollow ring, which is held together by a clasp. The design depicts fourleaf clovers, six on the larger piece and three on the smaller piece of the ring. The lower rim has twenty-two loops, each with a ring - twenty with three-dimensional drop-shaped pendants, one with a two dimensional drop-shaped pendant, and one with a rosette-shaped pendant. The inside of the bracelet has an Arabic stamp with the name of the ruler: al-Mahdi. The similarity to stamps of al-Mahdi al-"Abbas makes it likely that the pendants wereproduced under his reign from AH 1161-1189 (AD 1748-1775).In addition, the name of the silversmith is engraved in Hebrew: xxx "Iraqi. The first name is lost but the supplement "Iraqi clarifies that he or his family came from originally from Iraq.
