Source Description

The bowl is circumscribed by six repoussé lobes alternating with six smaller protrusions. The highly stylized floral motifs are in raised filigree enamel against a stippled ground. There are three variations in floral decoration within the larger lobes, whereas in the smaller lobes, the decoration is more uniform. Orange and violet, set off with turquoise and green, are the predominant colors in the lobed sections. The upper border, in contrast, is composed of floral designs in plique-à-jour on a cream ground. Green chalcedony and garnet cabochon stones provide additional decoration.
