Document source description
In this tour-de-force of enameling, Khlebnikov displays a range of techniques. Painted in the center in glossy enamel is a sumptuously attired 17th-century falconer with his bird of prey. Beyond is a palace tower. This image is bordered by three bands of scale patterns in dark, mid, and light blue champlevé enamel followed by a band of scarlet en plein enamel over a wavy guilloché ground and beyond is a border of stylized flowers blue and red blossoms and yellowish green foliage in plique-à-jour enamel.
