Source Description
The hero Ashikaga Mitsuuji and his lover Tasogare shield themselves from the evening rain with a bamboo screen. In this scene they are hurrying across a field to reach an old temple where they can secretly be together-and where soon they will be haunted by the evil spirit of Mitsuuji's dead wife. This episode is intended to remind the audience of chapter four ("Evening Faces") in the classic 11th-century novel "The Tale of Genji."
