F T a 5 C e S A November 5, 1941 C To the Families of Nurses on the Staff of the American e Red Cross-Harvard Field Hospital Unit: I am enclosing instructions regarding mailing Christmas packages to the nurses of the American Red Cross-Harvard Field Hospital Unit. I would suggest that you take these instructions with you when you take your package to be mailed so that you can be assured by the local post office that the package is addressed in the proper way. Although the enclosed statement, obtained from a publication of the United States Department of Commerce, does not refer specifically-to the nurses of the American Red Cross-Harvard Field Hospital Unit, we are advised by the Department of Commerce officials that the nurses are eligible under this arrangement. A member of our staff who has recently returned from England has told us that the following articles have been suggested by the nurses: Tinned meats Cold cream Jams Soap - toilet Cheese Talcum Cookies Side combs (small) Dried fruit Hair nets Crackers Shoe laces - white & black Pickles Tooth paste Taffy Handkerchiefs Stick candy Hose - white for uniform Air mail stationery " tan Books and magazines White cotton shirts with non-wilt collars Black uniform ties Sincerely yours, Mary Beard, Director, Nursing Service. 66829
