    "ocrText": "I\nMran\n2937\n-\nMiss Bartha MungREAD CAREFULLY AND OBSERVF THESE INSTRUCTIONS.\nPerk Ave. ,\nRoaring Spring,Pa.\nOct. 24, 1918\nJ.\nD.\nMy dear Miss\nYour application for foreign service under the Red Cross has been received\nat this office. The Bureau of Personnel will send you definite instructions con-\ncerning your date of sailing, and may I request that you do not leave your home\nuntil you have received these instructions.\nI am enclosing circulars of information which give you detailed instructions\nconcerning equipment, insurance, etc.\nThe term of service is for the period of the War, but nurses may be released\nat the expiration of one year if the reasons given for release meet with approval.\nNurses sent over under the Red Cross are expected to remain in this service and\nrequests for transfer to the military service cannot be considered.\nYou are allowed salary, which is $70.00 per month, from date of leaving home\nto date on which you are booked to sail. If you are held in New York after that\ntime the additional salary will paid in France. During this time, as you are\nin the employment of the Red Cross, you will be expected to perform such service\nas may be assigned to you by the Division Director of Nursing at 44 East 23rd\nStreet. You may make such allotment as you may desire of your salary before\nleaving this country. After sailing, however, there can be no change made in\nthe method of payment of salaries. Forms for this purpose will be provided after\nreaching New York.\nU\nAll business arrangements are made by the Bureau of Personnel whose instruc-\ntions you will receive, and may I repeat that you should not leave your home\nuntil you have received and carried them out.\nN\nYou should report, as soon after arrivel in New York as possible, to Miss\nFlorence Johnson at 44 East 23rd Street. Mias Johnson is the representative of\nthe Nursing Service and will see that you receive your equipment and will direct\nyou to the Bureau of Personnel for necessary information concerning your pass-\nport and transportation at 222 Fourth Avenue."
