INER-OFHIOE LETTER
AMERICAN NATIONAL RED CROSS
MIDWESTERN BRANCH-ST. LOUIS
I
To
Miss Noyes
Date

From Mrs. vaughan

On August 27 you asked us to assist you in locating Miss
Loretta I. Bigley, #21070, whose No. 2 card is held by the Chicago
Committee. In reply to a letter written the Chicago Committee, they
advised that Miss bigley is at present in China with the Rockefeller
N
Foundation and will be for another year. They also stated that they
felt Miss bigley preferred to keep her membership with the Chicago Committee
and so did not send her a questionnaire this past year.
When we received this information, we suggested that the
committee senu Miss Bigley a questionnaire and if she intended to remain
in China another year it would be better to send her card on to your
office. We have just now heard from the committee again and the secretary
informs us that they do not know just where this nurse is located in China,
but if we think best, they will try to secure her address from the ROCKE-
feller Foundation and send her a questionnaire. However, the
committee
Vice-Chairman advised the secretary that Miss Bigley told her she pre-
ferred to keep her membership in Chicago. They have promi sed to learn
when she expects to return to this country.
In view of the information given above, I am wondering
what action you wish us to take.
Should we ask the committee to
secure the nurse's address from the Foundation and send her a question-
naire, and if she intends to remain in China for any length of time
insist upon their transferring her No. 2 card?
