a December 21, 1927. Mies Dora c. Garothere, U. S. Veterans Hoepitel #88, C Memphie, Tenn. My dear Miss Garothere: I was very sorry, indeed, to hear through a letter from Mise Kate M. Power, thet you had been obliged to give up your work and were now a patient at the United States Veterans' Hospital at Memphis, Tenn. 1 hope very much by this time that you hive been relieved through the diecovery of the real cause of your trouble. lie hope that you will take advantage of the opportunity and secure a long and well deserved rest. Apparently you have needed to coneider your physioal condition for sometime. It is hard to give up work at any time and particularly hére at the holiday season. I wish that we might do (something to make your stay lese irksome. Please believe, however, that we are deeply interested in your welfare and would like to hear from you as soon se you feel able to write. We feel sorry to have the work interrupted, but such interruptione are nevitable. Perhape you will be well enough later to return to the work, but please do not have this on your mind. Mise Power writes that she hears from all sides the highest tributes peid to the work you have done as well as regrets that you are ill. I am attaching one of the Christmae letters that I have sent to the Veterans Bureau Hospitale through the Chief Nurse. In case you may not see thie I am enclosing one, and will you not pass it on to any other sick nurses who may be there?
