My dear Miss Carpentert
We would like to have you report to the Pennsylvania Hotel, New York
City, Friday evening May 30. Through the room clerk get in touch with
Ethel Westermann Friday evening. She will be in charge of your group and
will have your passport, white shirt and the instructions you will need.
All members of your group have been asked to report at 10 A.M. on
Saturday, May 31 to lir. Walsh, Cunard White Star Office, 25 Broadway.
Further instructions concerning this will be given you by Miss
For obvious reasons passengers are specially requested not to divulge
to anyone the date or ship on which they expect to sail.
We must also ask passengers not to show the ship's name on any tags
or labels attached to their luguage; simply specify "A Ship".
It may be of interest for you to know that it is possible now to buy
Faglish one pound notes in this country for about $2.50 exch. Passengers
may not take into the United Kingdom more than 10 pounds per person in
Sterling notes. Any Sterling notes in the possèssion of passengers ovex
and above 10 pounds will be liable to confiscation.
During the voyage, passengers may use 1 pound or 10 shilling notes but
the Purser is not permitted to accept notes of 5 pounds or higher denomination.
Passengers are warned not to exchange more than is required for their use
during the voyage or for immediate expenses on lending, bearing in mind the
fact they may not take into Great Britain more than 10 pounds in Sterling.
