N etc a a + After 5 days, return to June M. Dushane, R.N. - 3.08. Hungerford Avenue MAIL ROOM Mrs NEGAUNEE, MICH. R E BEIV ED No.1 December 1 DET94} 1942 Miss Mary Beard, R.N. Referred; to nursing Director, Nursing Service American Red Cross National Headquarters Mary (b Washington, D.C. My dear Miss Beard: 3 In answer to your letter of Nov. 27,1942, I am Pleased to inform you that I have received word from Captain Ida W. Danielson, A.N.C. Chicago, Ill., to the effect that if I lose suffieient weight and when I do, they will re-consider my application. I am very anxious to join the service and cannot I understand why they are so strict regarding a matter which I consider rather trivial, because my weight has a never bothered me in any way, it is and always has been S well distributed and what people sometimes term as "solid". Since the time I was enrolled in the Red Cross, I have gained a little, probably due to the fact that I was on private duty and did not get as much exercise as I ordinarily do. But nowthat I am working general duty once more, I have started to lose and with the aid of my doctor's advice, a diet which will help, I hope that I shall lose very soon. Although I wish that Capt. Danielson will be lenient in requiring the amount of weight I must lose, becauseI would like very much to be in service by January 1, 1943 and that really does not leave me much time. May I hear your opinion on this and whatever advice you may have to offer me? Very truly yours, June m. Sus Shane, R.T. June M. DuShane, R.N. I
