My dear Miss Clarke:
We have had a most interesting Annual Meeting and I have not
had time to send you this little note but want you to know that
I
have written to Dr. Hart and trust that my letter may make some
impression. Knowing, however, of the political conditions in Phil-
adelphia I am a little afraid that merit is not always the first
consideration.
I am sending, however, a copy of my letter to Dr. Hart and
with it my very best wishes.
