My dear Miss Commins:
Your letter of January 13 to Miss Beard has been referred
to me for reply.
We are glad to know of your interest in service with the unit
which is being mobilized to be sent to Hawaii to help care for the
wounded civilian population. Howover, inasmuch as you are a member
in the First Reserve and presumably eligible for military duty, we
hesitate to consider your ,application for service to Hawaii at this
time. Also, inasmuch a.s you are employed as public health nurse in
the Detroit Visiting Nurse Association, we feel that you are making
a
valuable contribution and would hesitate to withdraw you from that
service for an assignment with the Hawaiian unit.
We do appreciate your interest and offer to serve, but shall
defer consideration of your application indefinitely.
