You will soon receive a letter from the Honorable Nor an l. Davis,
Chairman of the Americon National Red Cross, and with it a toicen of
the esteen in-which the heroic action of every member of the Unit
is held.
You will be glad to kmoi that a menorial fundeto be used as a loan
lund by the nursos of the American Fed Cross-Narvard Unit has boen
raised by friends of Euth Coodium Breckinridige in hor menory. To
this l'und many individuals have contributed. Not only have individuals
contributed, but the alumae associations of the schools of nursing
from which the Harvard Unit nurses groduated. A committee has been
foimed to see that this und is used by the nurses of the Unit in any
way which will pronoto their best profession Or personal interosts
and ive each person to whon a Loan is made her best opportinity for
profossional growth. To borro from-the fend vill be counted as an
honor paid to the entiro Unit. If bere is no ager en occasion for
the merbers of the Unit to use'this fund, it is understood th t the
money will revert to a moro genoral American Red Cross nurse Loan,
fund.
On September 16 of last year, Sir Dilson Jameson, Chief Medical Officer,
Ministry of Health, sent a letter which camo to the Dean or the Harvard
Medical School end to the Chairman of th Ane. Dan Cross et ressing
his deep+appreciatio o. the sorvice which the Unit his rendered to the
people of Great Britain. I encloso a copy of this letter.
There is little hore that I can add at this ti e except to say that
the spirit ohich prompted the nursesto the Harvard Unit, spirit
which has intormed their vork thioughout the your's service in England
in var-tine, has been and will alvays be a source of inspiration and
strength to me ersonally. e 01 the Red Cross are deeply and sin ercly
grateful that une have boen ivileged to have bac any siaro in it.
