I February 28, 1941 Miss Helen Jurewicz, Central Nurses' Residence, nelfare Island, new York my dear Miss Jurewicz: Thank you for your letter of February 24 and your understanding of the situation. The possibility of a June sailing is the most definite thing we have had yet. Our hospital buildings and equipment are now moving and it is by the schedule given for this that we are better able to judge the time of sailing for the greater part of the nursing staff. We must remember that the country to which we are going is at war and uncertainty is to be expected. The enclosed yellow form, 615 A, is a report required by all new American Red Cross employees and is riled in another department; hence the necessity of asking you to answer questions most of which you have already answered. Will you submit on the enclosed expense voucher with receipted bills the cost of your immunization and x-ray and also passport fee and cost of passport pictures so that you may be reimbursed. Enclosed you will find instructions regarding payment of salary, etc. We would appreciate an early return of these two forms. For your interest, I an going to a.ks for 5 Pounds per month for personal requirements in England. I feel that this sum together with what I take with me will be ample. Regarding luggage, if you have two pullman size suit cases, you should be able to get all your things in. However, mine are smaller, so I am going to take a week-end bag as well. Sincerely yours, 8 - 2 Gertrude Madley, J Chief Nurse, American Red Cross- of M/B Harvard Hospital Unit. Enc. - 3
